My name is Katherine Gage and I’m excited to be starting my fourth and final year on the Torch as the Copy Editor. When I’m not working on this week’s issue I’m interning at an environmental energy company or working in Roosevelt’s Gage Gallery. I’m passionate about human rights, environmentalism, and spending as much time exploring the city as possible.
Major: Journalism and English with a Concentration in Creative Writing
Rachel Popa is working as the Web Editor and the social media manager for the Torch after being a Staff Reporter for two years. She believes that the web provides an excellent opportunity for journalism to grow and reach as many people as possible. She has a passion for writing, reading, “Game of Thrones,” caffeinated beverages, and corgis. When she’s not enjoying the aforementioned things, she enjoys taking walks around Chicago and admiring the beauty of the city.
Major: Business Management and Economics

Dominic Gwinn fell into Chicago on a rickety Amtrak train from Washington D.C. where he began majoring in journalism because he believes in telling stories (not sadomasochism). He currently writes for the political satire blog, Wonkette, and survives on black coffee and generic energy bars. He is currently awaiting exile for crimes hasn’t committed.
Ian is a transfer student ready to start a new journey here at Roosevelt University majoring in Journalism. I am originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I have always thought it is important to get the truth out there and let the people know what is going on in today’s society. I love writing about sports and getting people’s opinions about sports as well, that is why I started writing sports pages at my community college at the College of Lake County. And that has driven me to become a member of the Torch and soon live my dream career of working for ESPN. Other than the Torch my interests are music, sports, art, and spending time with my family.
