Megan Schuller, Editor-In-Cheif

Lauren Grimaldi is the Managing Editor or the Torch after serving as a staff reporter for two years. In addition to the newspaper, she has also written dozens of articles for Study Breaks, an online magazine geared specifically towards college students. Lauren also writes for Her Campus’ national publication as an Election/News Writer. When she’s not writing, Lauren loves watching sports, and is a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Blackhawks.

My name is Katherine Gage and I’m excited to be starting my fourth and final year on the Torch as the Copy Editor. When I’m not working on this week’s issue I’m interning at an environmental energy company or working in Roosevelt’s Gage Gallery. I’m passionate about human rights, environmentalism, and spending as much time exploring the city as possible.

Rachel Popa, Web Editor and Social Media Manager

Major: Journalism and English with a Concentration in Creative Writing

Rachel Popa is working as the Web Editor and the social media manager for the Torch after being a Staff Reporter for two years. She believes that the web provides an excellent opportunity for journalism to grow and reach as many people as possible. She has a passion for writing, reading, “Game of Thrones,” caffeinated beverages, and corgis. When she’s not enjoying the aforementioned things, she enjoys taking walks around Chicago and admiring the beauty of the city.


Joseph Molina, Business Manager

Major: Business Management and Economics

Joseph serves as the new Business Manager for the Torch and as an operations intern at SmithBucklin in downtown, Chicago. A dedicated student employee to Roosevelt University over the years, he has served as a Resident Advisor for two years in the Office of Residence and a SOAR Coordinator for the Office of the Registrar. Joseph spends his free time volunteering at the International Latino Cultural Center and spending time with family.


Ian Jackson, Staff Reporter

Ian is a transfer student ready to start a new journey here at Roosevelt University majoring in Journalism. I am originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I have always thought it is important to get the truth out there and let the people know what is going on in today’s society. I love writing about sports and getting people’s opinions about sports as well, that is why I started writing sports pages at my community college at the College of Lake County. And that has driven me to become a member of the Torch and soon live my dream career of working for ESPN. Other than the Torch my interests are music, sports, art, and spending time with my family.


David Villegas, Contributing Reporter

David Villegas is a recent contributing reporter with the RU Torch. His Personality changes from a stereotypical country boy to a tough love biker all the way to a fanatic weirdo, all of which he rarely fits the requirements of these subcultures. Other than being busy at Roosevelt and the nearby Grace Place, he frequently travels around the city which is uploaded at his Instagram.


Weesita Sriburachai “Chloe,” Graphics and Photo Editor

Major: Business/Corporate Communications (Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications)

Year: Graduate Student (1st Year)

Weesita Sriburachai is an international student from Thailand whose nick-name in Thai is  “Koyy,” or you can call her “Chloe.” She loves the arts, such as movies and animation. She is interested and excited to adapt her knowledge and experiences to work as a photo and graphic editor for the Torch. Chloe believes that good visual designs such as photographs and illustrations can help support writing and give a clear vision to readers. That’s why she really wants to create as good graphics as she can for the Torch’s readers and followers. Chloe is also a student worker at the Office of International Programs at Roosevelt University. So, you can drop by to share a good talk about Eastside countries experiences or anything about films, animations, sports and pets, which she has the passion for too.
