The Lunar New Year Parade took place in Chicago on February 2, kicking off the new year with colorful celebration. Chinese New Year was on January 25, and ushered in the “Year of the Rat” which is a reference to the long-established Chinese zodiac that aligns a type of animal with each new year in a cycle. Dragons, streamers and lanterns all took part in the celebration as Chicagoans came together to watch and enjoy the festivities.
