It’s that time of year again – the SPEED programming board has been hard at work planning this year’s homecoming dance. The homecoming dance is scheduled to take place at the Adler Planetarium on Oct. 27 from 8 p.m to midnight.

Last year, the homecoming dance was held at Guaranteed Rate Field. Jose Marroquin, the director of student involvement, said last year’s event received positive feedback.

“Therefore, the pressure is on to deliver another great quality experience,” Marroquin said.

Marroquin said students will be happy with this year’s location. “Students will have a great dance area looking out toward the city, great food, a photo booth and a fun DJ.”

The location of the dance was chosen from a list of proposed locations near RU. “This year, after looking over the information submitted, we decided to go with the Adler Planetarium,” Marroquin said.

Marroquin said students will be able to board shuttle buses from RU that will take them to the Adler Planetarium for free.

Students can also participate in events during the week of the dance, including a comedy show and the opportunity to make a customized license plate, Marroquin said. RU students will have a variety of daily events to be able to attend throughout homecoming week. Marroquin said much of the homecoming schedule will remain the same as last year. Homecoming week takes place from Oct. 23 through the 27.

All weekly events are free to RU students, but students will have to buy tickets to attend the dance. Ticket prices are $15 for one ticket, and $25 for two tickets.
