“Matilda The Musical” opened Tuesday, March 22. Upon arrival at the scene of the Oriental Theatre, the beautiful entry and everything from the wall to ceiling leaves one in awe.

The stage was decorated with blocked letters piled high and along with letters spelling out Matilda, there were other blocks that spelled out other words like: escape artist, daughter, phenomenal and more.

The music, dancing and set transitions were seamless. The company of “Matilda The Musical” National Tour have been touring for at least a year and the chemistry is evident. The show leaves the audience full of laughter and at times on the brink of tears.

“Matilda The Musical” is filled with lessons for all ages. Reading is fundamental for learning, imagination is important and no matter what cards life may deal, everyone has the opportunity to change the outcome. Revolt against the things that keep you from being the best you and never “grin and bear” a horrible situation.

Looking for a wakeup call to believe in yourself or just wanting to reflect on the nostalgia of the book or movie, either way “Matilda The Musical” is a must-see production. The show will be in Chicago at the Oriental Theatre until April 10.
