Dating, whether online or off can be a somewhat daunting endeavor. With so many ways to meet a future someone or a one night dalliance, how can you know what kind of people will meet? Although spending hours sifting through countless profiles to find that one person that is actually worth your time meeting is fun for some; take a few friends and enjoy an evening of hilarious relationship comedy.
The Second City presents #DateMe: An OK Cupid Experiment, returning to the UP Comedy Club located at 230 W. North Avenue (at Piper’s Alley). Robyn Lynn Norris, the creator of #DateMe, and her friends are the in the middle of their fourth engagement at the UP Comedy Club. The comedy sketch depicts a real world experiment and how 38 seemingly “undateable” profiles are created on the world’s most popular online dating site to see how people would interact with them. The research that sparked the 90 minutes of comedic relief is from real people operating fake profiles.
With original music, real life characters and the opportunity for you to find out how you can meet someone in person, this event is something to behold. #DateMe’s fourth engagement is going on from October 15 – November 15, 2015. This means there are only a few weeks left to experience the real, yet strangely blunt world of online dating without created a profile. Guests to the show are able to create what their own online profile would look like and what things we cannot live without.
#DateMe is performed Thursdays at 8 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays at 8 and 11 p.m.; and Sundays at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $26 (Thursdays and Sundays) and $31 (Fridays and Saturdays) and there is never a drink minimum at UP!
