Ode to great writers – Poetry Corner

By Ian Kreml

Zelda Fitzgerald

You were far too rich for him,
and how it drove him mad!
Dear Frances could not stand within
that vibrancy and life you had.

Was not it you who went insane?
And him who stood the test of time?
Yet still, you have survived through him,
infamous for your simple mind.

Hans Christian Andersen

Your life and blesséd work
was a gift to all the world,
though everything you ever said,
came as each woman spurned your love.

And though I have had women,
some nights I feel your pain.
For even with love or without,
no human mind is free of stain.
